Revision 3 is now released for CGA Game Jam 2026 featuring CGA colorburst and color changes on leveling up!

Every jam needs at least one snake game and this was a really good one. A refreshing take on an old formula and very enjoyable to play.

Revision 2 is released! The score, level and lives are no longer simply variables operating behind the scenes, but now visible above the play area. Advanced levels will now temporarily remove the border/fence, so wrap across the screen while it is safe!

I get a black screen after the start menu in dosboxpure, staging and vanilla dosbox. tried lowering the cycles but i dont see the squiggles. did watch emmfoolery play it looks fun!

The best game experience for running SINEBYTE for DOSBOX is running the QBASIC 1.1 Interpreter with the SINEBYTE.BAS source code instead of running the executable (which is based on the SINEBYT2.BAS +custom timer).

Jenney! There are so many snake-type games for DOS that I wasn't sure what to expect from this. It is so, so charming! I could play this for hours. Lovely and distinctive tweaks on a classic concept.

SINEBYTE provides an enjoyable arcade gameplay experience. I also love playing the game because I see the math visually mesmerizing and the various sound effects play, similar to the Tetris-effect.

The inspiration came from the popular TI-83 calculator assembly game "Uncle Worm by badja@calc.org ", a favorite nibbles-type game with 32 directions.
